Decorative, but where are the words?

This is a Bible that was made in 1874 for use at the Native American Methodist church at Greensky Hill which is near Petoskey. The Bible is beautifully ornate and has amazing detail. It is in the Historical Museum along with other Native American artifacts, including the quill boxes I've shown you before and handmade baskets that are very detailed. I just wonder where the words of the Bible are.....

Sorry I've missed a day, I've been sick and not left the house, but thankfully I'm on the mend!

Sorry you have been under the weather. Hope you are up and about soon! This Bible is beautiful. I suppose the words aren't there because the traditions were passed down orally? I have heard the cathedrals of Europe had the stories carved on stone the exteriors since many could not read?

I'm not sure, it is beautiful though. Sounds like some more research is in order. My daughter will probably like to find out more about this, she's a history searching kind of girl!

It is very beautiful. The fine detail that is preserved always amazes me. The histoty of the images only would be be interesting. Coming fron the UK
that this is quite unusual, and not something we would possibly here.
