The Colors are Still Bright
It is normal for the good color to last about 2, possibly 3 weeks here in the fall, and this year is no exception. Last Sunday was my favorite day, with all the red trees just glowing in the sunlight, but all the other colors are still bright and beautiful. It is great to live in a place where seasons change and the trees give us a glorious show every year! Although this does mean that winter is coming....

Timmbbbbeerrrr!

You know that someday this tree will not be here any longer. I think it was just 2 trees that grew together, but I don't know for sure. I do know that the splitting process will not take too many more years. Every year, snow and water get in the crack and expand in the freezing temperatures and will eventually split this lovely tree in half. It is on top of a very large hill, so it will be interesting to see what the view is like when this tree is gone.

The Spirit of the Forest
Just a little ways down the path from THE HILL, I found this interesting tree. It looks to me like there is a face in the burl, so I wonder what type of dryad this would be. I am a huge fan of the Narnia books (and the movies) and dryads, which are featured in the books, have always fascinated me. So, imagine my surprise and delight when I found this!
